I’m a lists person. So here’s a bunch of lists about me!

Professions (or Aspirations) Throughout the Years:

  • Veterinarian, horse breeder, horse trainer
  • Author of children’s series about horses.
  • Swim coach, horseback riding instructor, babysitter. (check).
  • Office Assistant. (check. I’ve sworn off office jobs!)
  • Professional triathlete.  (check).
  • Bike shop salesperson. (check).
  • Nutritionist.
  • Server. (check).
  • Laboratory Specialist. (check).
  • Teacher.
  • Wilderness Therapy Instructor. (check).
  • Registered Nurse.
  • Wilderness Rescue Flight RN.
  • Included on the medical staff for an expedition.

 

Where I’ve lived:

  • Born in Michigan.  Swimming in Lake Michigan and skiing on Crystal Mountain.
  • Elementary/Middle school in Southeast Pennsylvania.  Skiing in the Poconos isn’t the same.
  • High School in Northern Virginia.  Learning to drive here prepared me for anything!
  • Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.  Learning to road bike here prepared me for anything.
  • Summer 2004 in Frisco, Colorado.  Summer in the Colorado mountains is amazing.
  • Summer 2006 – triathlon training in San Antonio, Texas.  It’s hillier than most parts of Texas.
  • Summer 2006 – Schneckenhausen, Germany.  Racing Triathlon World Cup circuit in Europe.
  • Fall 2006 – US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.  Altitude training!
  • End of 2006 – Christchurch, New Zealand.  Winter training with Kiwi world-class athletes.
  • Spring 2007 – Blacksburg, Virginia. Post-midlife crisis #1.
  • Fall 2008 – Brevard, North Carolina. Post-midlife crisis #2.
  • Fall 2009 – Northern Virginia.  Post-midlife crisis #3.
  • Spring 2011 – North Seattle, Washington.  Time for a fresh start!

    Basic Facts:

    • BS in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise from Virginia Tech in 2006.
    • BSN (Bachelors in Nursing) from Marymount University Accelerated Program in 2010.
    • I’m a Registered Nurse, but I haven’t found a job yet…
    • I have Wilderness First Responder certification from WMI of NOLS.
    • I recently relocated to the Northwest from the Washington, DC area.
    • I have wonderful, supportive parents, a interesting and generous brother (he’s hosting this site, thanks!), and a loving, fun boyfriend (he helped me build this site, thanks!).  We have a new puppy named Colby!
    • I drive a 2003 Subaru Outback wagon that my dad generously traded with me for my old Integra (sniff!).
    • I raced triathlons professionally around the world, but I haven’t done a road triathlon since 2006.  Check my old triathlon site at www.michellelindsay.com/old.
    • I now enjoy a wider variety of  outdoor activities – rock climbing, mountain biking, off-road triathlons, kayaking, adventure racing, hiking, camping, running, and sometimes road biking.

    Random Facts:

    • I played the tuba in high school.
    • I don’t like watching TV, but I love movies!
    • I prefer to go by bike.
    • I’m left-handed.
    • I don’t eat meat unless it came from a sustainable, environmentally-minded pastoral farm that prides itself in its humane treatment of its animals.
    • I love ice cream, but I can’t afford to only eat dairy or eggs from farms like that :/
    • I’m a Mac person.  Converted in 2005!
    • I have 3 bicycles and I love each one dearly.
    • I like to get up early.  Sunrise is better than sunset.
    • I enjoy making new friends :)
